Sustainable Products
We love the outdoors - if we didn't, we wouldn't be in this industry for 30+ years. Having sustainable practices has long been a part of our business plan, and year-after-year, we look at how we can be better, and put those words into action. As a company, it's important that we provide high quality products (through the fabric and the design) but also recognize the damage that the fashion and clothing industry has on the environment, and do our part to try and right the ship.
This year, we have more sustainable products than ever before. Beanies, headwear, neck warmers, and more. Some of our fabrics are made from recycled plastic bottles, some from recycled polyester, and others that might not be made from recycled goods, but they're 100% biodegradable.
Turtle Fur’s Sustainable Products
Polartec® Thermal Pro® Stria Fleece
This insanely soft (and technical) fleece is made from 53% recycled polyester. It's a midweight performance fleece that offers warmth without weight, while remaining highly breathable. The fast drying properties make it a great fabric for our products designed to be worn when the snow is falling. It's also pill resistant - meaning even after long periods of use, multiple washes, and multiple seasons of wear and tear, the fibers won't gather and form little bobbles/fuzzballs/lint balls. The following products are available in our Polartec® Thermal Pro® Stria Fleece:

Merino Wool with Tencel™
This fabric is a true powerhouse in terms of both function and comfort. It's both breathable and odor resistant, making it a great option for products that are designed to go with you on adventures where you might work up a bit of a sweat. It has superior moisture management properties, and is UPF 35 - so even when the sun is shining, this fabric has you covered. The sustainability comes in to play in two parts. First, the TENCEL™ Active Cellulosic fibers are derived from renewable wood sources. Second, this fabric is 100% biodegradable!

Polartec® Windbloc® Fleece
Polartec® Windbloc® is another fabric that has a lot to offer. It has resilient stretch, is highly breathable, and incredibly durable. With UPF 50+, it offers protection not just from the elements when used in our designs, but also protection from the harsh sun rays. The most redeeming quality is the versatile membrane that consists of the windproof fortified layer - meaning this fabric blocks 100% of the wind. On top of all that, we've added a durable water repellant finish which repels water in wet conditions (without sacrificing breathability). And you can feel good about purchasing products made from this fabric, as it's made with 82% recycled content.

Recycled Polyester Blend
We're very excited about our offering of recycled beanies this year! The list may not be long, but we're making strides in the right direction. Each of these beanies combines function, quality, and sustainability - without sacrificing style or comfort. It's often hard to merge all of these together, and our thoughtful designs (and designers) pulled something incredible off.
