Turtle Fur is thrilled to announce our sponsorship of the Mountain Ops Skimo Race Team, which commenced with the ringing in of the New Year!

Based out of Stowe, Vermont, the Mountain Ops Skimo Team holds a winning track record as they travel the country to participate in series and individual races up mountains (and back down again) to the awe of many.

What is Skimo?

Skimo is a winter sport also referred to as competitive or endurance Mountaineering. The end goal being to ascent a mountain, on skis, as quickly as possible in a timed race format. It is a physically demanding sport that also requires intense planning as well as focused mental strength.

An already-established sport in Europe, Skimo has recently become more recognized and popular in the United States. The discipline aligns well with cross-country skiers, backcountry enthusiasts and endurance sport athletes looking to cross train throughout the winter.

About the Mountain Ops Skimo Race Team:

The Mountain Ops Skimo Race Team was founded in 2016 and consists of 6 people who are passionate about their favorite pastime: Skimo. Based out of Stowe, Vermont, the team is in its infancy with room to grow and many mountains to conquer. Despite the size of the team in the Winter of 2017, incredibly success were found throughout the Skimo East series as well as those achieved in the Catamount Trail skimo series, and the NE Rando series.
